Net government revenue collection totalled Bt898.06 billion for the first five months of the fiscal year through to the end of February, Fiscal Policy Office director-general Krisda Chinavicharana said yesterday.
The figure is 5.1 per cent higher than expected in the budget, and 9.8 per cent higher than in the same period last year.
Revenue contributions from other agencies, personal income tax collection and beer tax collection were 70.3 per cent, 5.1 per cent and 12.6 per cent higher than estimated, respectively.
Warning over scheme
SCB Economic Intelligence Centre (EIC) has noted in its research that household debt could accelerate after the “Pracha Rath” housing project is implemented.
The scheme is an additional measure to boost housing demand after the government previously launched tax incentives for house purchases of up to Bt3 million.
Additional household debt will be seen largely in the form of furniture and home-appliance transactions, which will mean lower consumption in the long run due to an increased debt burden on low-income buyers, the EIC said.
