THAI FIRM INKS JV WITH UK CURRENCY EXCHANGER

UK currency exchanger Travelex Limited will invest Bt68.20 million to form a foreign exchange company in Thailand with Thai-based holding listed company Aira Capital (AIRA).

 
Nalinee Ngamsettamas, chief executive officer of AIRA, said that the company’s board of directors had approved it signing a shareholder agreement with Travelex Limited to form the joint venture company under the name of Travelex (Thailand) Limited.
The JV has registered capital of Bt110 million. The UK company will hold a 62 per cent stake, representing an investment of Bt68.20 million.
Travelex services more than 80 foreign currencies in more than 50 countries. It has more than 1,500 stores and more than 1,400 ATMs.
 
MOU FOR MEGA  FARM PROJECT
 
Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn, Agricultural Minister General Chatchai Sarikalya and Deputy Interior Minister Suthee Makboon yesterday witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding for a mega rice-farming project. The project aims to support farmers in the integration of their rice farming in order to reduce the cost of production and increase rice farmers’ bargaining power when selling rice.
Under the project, 57,775 rice farmers will integrate 386 farms covering 838,403 rai (134,144 hectares) in 66 provinces.
