This is the first time in five months that the TISI has increased in this year, according to Chen Namchaisiri, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, on Tuesday.
He added that the survey covers 1,078 firms in 45 industries natiowide.
The TISI increase reflected new orders for the both the domestic and export markets in August, with higher demand locally and in neighbouring countries.
However, he said most firms continued to be concerned about the effects on exports of the rising costs of raw materials and labour, and the strong baht.
