Twenty-eight foreign businesses were newly registered in Thailand in the first three weeks of September, with a combined investment value of Bt468 million and employing 862 Thai staff, the director-general of the Business Development Department said on Tuesday.

Banjongjitt Angsusingh, who is also secretary of the Alien Business Committee, said the new foreign investors were from Japan, the Netherlands and Hong Kong.
They are investing in opening international headquarters in Thailand, and in the fields of retail business, advertising and telecommunications installation.
So far this year, 220 foreign investors have set up business in Thailand, 52 fewer than in the same period last year, she said.
However, their combined investment value has increased by more than 9 per cent year on year, from Bt5.78 billion to Bt6.31 billion, she added.
