Latvian caught over theft of luxury watches

A 29-year-old Latvian tourist was arrested for allegedly stealing two luxury wristwatches and a handbag worth Bt2.4 million from a Phuket shopping mall on Monday.
The suspect, identified as Kristaps Kosogova, was presented at a Phuket Tourist Police press conference on Monday evening along with two Piaget wristwatches worth Bt2.4 million and a Bt10,500 handbag.
Staff of a watch shop in the shopping mall filed a police complaint against a foreigner for stealing the goods.
Police checked surveillance footage and identified the man, who was billeted at a hotel in Tambon Rawai in Muang Phuket.
Officers turned up to search the tourist as he was checking out and found the stolen goods in his luggage. He confessed to the crime, they said.
