Rainy season began last week, weather bureau says

The rainy season commenced last Wednesday when southwesterly winds started to prevail over the country and the Gulf of Thailand, bringing moisture from the Andaman Sea, Meteorological Department chief Wanchai Sak-udomchai said yesterday.
However, Wanchai said the rain in the beginning of the season would be intermittent, but it was expected to be heavier and more consistent in the second half of the season.
The season is expected to end around mid-October, he said.
In the South, especially along the eastern coast, the wet season is projected to continue until December.
