Premsak files libel complaint against Daily News website

Khon Kaen’s Ban Phai Mayor Premsak Phiayura yesterday filed a libel complaint against Daily News website, insisting that he did not get married to a Mathayom 5 schoolgirl as reported on the website on July 25.
Submitting his complaint at the Technology Crime Suppression Division, 51-year-old Premsak said the photograph of him sitting next to the girl in a ceremony, which went viral in social media, was actually the July 18 ritual to bless the adoption of the teenage girl.
Premsak is currently facing a disciplinary investigation for allegedly detaining five journalists and ordering the partial stripping of a male Daily News reporter in order to object against the coverage of his “personal” matter. The journalists were seeking a comment from him over the controversial photo.
