Disease Control Department director Dr Jessada Chokdamrongsuk said that as many Northern provinces have been suffering from increasing haze problems during this dry season and Tak and Lampang have already seen air pollution levels exceed the safe limit, the department suggested that vulnerable individuals avoid exposing themselves to air pollution.
“If the levels of particulate matter of up to 10 microns in size (PM10) is beyond 120 micrograms, it is harmful to health. Therefore, people should refrain from doing outdoor activities for a long time and always close doors and windows. People who have poor health or have chronic diseases should always wear a face mask,” Jessada said.
He also suggested that people should monitor the pollution situation from official channels.
