Veera on Wednesday planned to take a group of media to visit the site to prove whether or not it is located in the area he alleged.
On his Facebook page he asked why the military allowed this to happen.
Top senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Wongsuwan, denied Veera's allegation, and warned him that the trip might cause trouble.
Over 100 local traders and villagers near the checkpoint this morning gathered to block Veera from leaving the resort. They claimed Veera's visit would cause trouble.
Veera said he has left the area, travelling to Prakhonchai district about 40 kilometers away, to avoid confrontation.
