An official from the Din Daeng district office said that so far only five of the 24 families have agreed to leave and the office is still negotiating with the other families.
They were given until the end of the year to move out or face legal actions, a source said.
The area belongs to the Expressway Authority of Thailand that authorised the BMA to use it to build a park and a shortcut from Vibhavadi highway to the Pratunam area.
The permission was given in 2013 but the BMA has not been able to carry out the plan due to the squatters, the source said.
