Neighbour alerts police of warehouse fire in Samut Prakan
A fire raged through a paper-box and foil warehouse in Samut Prakan province early Sunday, causing more than Bt3 million in damages.
“I rushed out to see what happened after the electricity at my home went out and I smelled something burning,” a witness said.
He alerted police about the fire.
The witness lives near the warehouse, in a house on Soi Sapboonchai 39 in Samut Prakan’s Muang district.
Police said the fire report came in at about 3am and five fire trucks quickly rushed to the scene.
The warehouse was built next to a two-storey house in the same compound. It took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the blaze.
Police said the warehouse was located in Soi Sapboonchai 41. No manufacturing took place at the building.
No one was working at the building when the blaze erupted.
Initial indicators are that a short circuit might have started the fire. The investigation is ongoing and forensic tests will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
