Skeleton linked to man missing for six months

A human skeleton found on Sunday in a forest near Huai Mahat Mountain in Rayong's Ban Chang district is though to be a 38-year-old local man who was reported missing six months ago.

The 15 pieces of human bone were found under a large tree along with a hand-written suicide note, a rope, a helmet and a motorcycle tax sticker for the licence plate number "Khor Yor Phor 234 Rayong" under the name of Patpibul Jaiklam 38. It was estimated the man had been dead for six months.
Patpibul's wife Nannapas Wongkaenchan, who identified the belongings as her husband's and the suicide note as being his handwriting, told police he had been missing for six months due to stress after being diagnosed with cancer.
She said she therefore filed a missing person’s report with police, who believe he committed suicide by hanging himself.
Police submitted the bones for further tests by the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Bangkok to confirm his identification before releasing the remains to his family for his funeral.
