Chilled and thrilled tourists swarm Doi Inthanon for fog spectacle

With the temperature dropping to 10 degrees Celsius on Friday morning, tourist numbers soared on Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai.

Doi Inthanon National Park director Rung Hiranwong said an estimated 2,000 visitors scaled Thailand’s highest peak (2,565 metres) to admire the sea of mist below the Kiew Maeparn lookout.
The morning fog becomes thicker as the temperature plummets, and Wanchai Srinuan of the Chiang Mai meteorological office said it would drop by another two to six degrees later in the day or by tomorrow.
