Students get present of free online lessons, exams archive
As a New Year’s 2018 gift, the Education Ministry will provide free online lessons for all core subjects to Thai students. A related website and smartphone application is to be launched on National Children's Day, January 13, 2018, said Education Minister Teerakiat Jareonsettasin on Monday.
The “Tew Free Dot Com” project, to be hosted by the Office of Basic Education Commission, will be sponsored by the private and civil-society sector including the Foundation of Virtuous Youth and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission, he said.
It will provide online lessons in two formats. The first format will feature famous tutors that will share techniques for learning various topics, while the second will provide extra lessons to boost student understanding in core subject lessons, Teerakiat said.
The project would also provide an archive of past exam papers, especially the O-Net (Ordinary National Educational Test) to help students prepare for exams.
“This project is not tutoring but an arrangement for students to access good lessons and archives of past exams," he said. The project was developed in response to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's previous direction for the ministry to produce CDs and handbooks about learning techniques by famous tutors in order to allow students in rural areas to match learning styles of their big-city peers.
