Female suspects Umaporn Sa-artsit, 28, Sommai Sa-artsit, 30, and Wannipa Sornphut, 30, along with a male suspect Marut Mala, 19, were also accused of being linked to a Chon Buri-based drug dealing gang.
The four suspects were initially charged with having yaba pills with intent to sell. The pills were found in five sacks loaded onto a Suzuki sedan parked at the hospital entrance.
A police investigation found that Umaporn’s husband, who was currently serving time in jail, told her to leave the car at the meeting point and leave the car key in the vehicle. Others would load the drugs onto the vehicle so she could deliver the drugs to customers in Sa Kaew.
Surachit said it was the largest batch impounded in the province in a decade.
Marut said he and the others tagged along with Umaporn when she invited them for a trip. “I didn’t know the car had drugs or else I wouldn’t have come with her,” he said.
