Van carrying Chinese tourists crashes near Khao Lak
A van transporting Chinese tourists crashed on the way from Phuket International Airport to Khao Lak on Wednesday, resulting in 13 injuries, nine of which were considered serious.
The van was driving in foggy weather when a motorcycle cut ahead of it, causing the driver to swerve.
The 52yearold driver, Suchart Aduman, who received minor injuries, said the fog had been thick, making visibility poor, and the motorcycle cut in front of him very quickly. He lost control when he swerved to avoid the motorcycle and hit a lamp post.
“We were about to park at a gas station for a break but the accident happened just before we arrived. I’m very sorry and I apologise for what happened,” he said.
All the injured passengers were sent to Thai Muang Chaipat Hospital.
There have been a series of public transport accidents involving Chinese tourists in recent months.
