
He said MPs should be invited to inspect the projects when operations are complete.
“We’ve found that some projects are of low quality. I will inform the parliament. MPs cannot solve every defect. It is important to use the national budget to built infrastructure effectively,” said Myint Oo.
“I’ve proposed to build eight bridges. The parliament approved four to be built using the national budget. Three of them were built last year – one was concrete, and the other two were wooden bridges. The concrete bridge cost Ks 120 million to built, while each wooden bridge cost Ks 60 million. When we inspected the wooden bridge, we found that low-quality wood was used, and it was untidy. Residents there complained to us,” he added.
After informing the construction supervisors of the bridges' shortcomings, the supervisors pledged to restructure it. The bridges are not built properly, he said.
Deputy Education Minister Thant Shin said during a parliament session that the company that won the tender to carry out the construction will be put on the black list if it does not build properly.
