The red villages were created by a group within the red-shirt movement. Most of these people were former members of the now-defunct Communist Party of Thailand.
According to the Communist rule book, a Communist country must not have a monarch as head of state or government. Hence, according to these people, the monarchy must be done away with at the first opportunity.
The red villages are off limits to other political parties such as the Democrat Party – the Pheu Thai Party’s number one opponents. They would be chased with an intent to kill if found to be travelling near these villages.
From time to time, there were calls from these villages to separate from Thailand, an act that would be considered seditious in many other countries.
The question is, for what purpose did the US government send CIA operatives to visit these people and villages regularly?
Doesn’t the Obama administration feel obliged to give a satisfactory explanation to the Thai people on this matter?
