I strongly agree with the points made in Suwatchai Suwatchai’s latest column, but I would add one more vital element that would yield huge mutual benefit: Support China in building the Kra canal. Doing so would shorten the so-called marine Silk Route and make it more secure.
China would surely be appreciative, while Thailand would enjoy a share of the huge revenue from fees charged to ships passing through the canal.
It would also be a spur to other marine-trade business in Thailand.
