Far from being an April Fool’s joke, as Barry Kenyon suggests, I was “bloody” serious. Here’s why my proposal – that expat retirees could donate blood in exchange for free visa extensions – makes sense.
If you are 50 years old you can apply for a retirement visa, and you have 10 years left to give blood before you reach the donor limit of 60. Four times a year over 10 years becomes 16 litres/kilos.
I have six years left to donate. Think about it – free extension, free health check, etc.
I understand that no one at the Pattaya Bridge Club could donate blood under today’s rules, so please, continue with the language courses. That’s great!
However, the reality is that donating blood can save lives, while playing cards can lead to trouble.
