It’s Bush, not Blair, who should be fried over Iraq

It seems that now the UK is rehashing the validity of the Iraqi war - what a joke. I don’t know if Tony Blair was guilty of deception or not, but I was always convinced George Bush was. I noticed a strange phenomenon while the war was going on.

Every morning during the “dash across the desert”, at the military press briefings, the commanding general would begin with a slogan – or “war cry”, if you will. “We are going to find the weapons of mass destruction”, he’d say, or, “WMD are our first target.” I was retired, so I watched every briefing, but strangely, halfway across the desert, the term WMD was replaced by slogans like “Halfway to freeing the Iraqi people”. I knew in that instant we had all been conned. WMD was never mentioned again and only a cursory search was made.
The fact is that George Bush knew before they ever got to Baghdad that there were no WMD. The real motive for the invasion was control of Iraqi oil, establishing democracy and destabilising the Middle East. Bush looked straight into the camera and lied to the American people. Whether or not Blair knew it or not, or whether George just conned or bullied him into cooperating, I do not know, but Bush was a bald-faced liar and everyone let him get away with it, like the errant schoolboy he was.
They should not be investigating Blair. They should be dragging out the tapes on all of those CNN briefings and investigating Bush. The authorities had no problem discovering that White House tapes were missing in the Nixon case, so why not George?
