The left-handed Bangkokian overcame a series of net attacks from his opponent to make back-to-back finals after losing to Pruchya Isarow in the final of the previous circuit last week.
“He was playing so well in the first set, giving me no chance to break his game. He surged to the net most of the time and kept me off rhythm,” said the 23-year-old player.
“But in the tie-break I hit a few good passing shots which was the key. Then in the second set I started to play better and got a crucial break to go up 3-2,” said Phassawit.
Waiting for him in today’s final is Chaleechan Tanasugarn, the brother of former Thai No 1 female player Tamarine, who defeated Vorachon Rakpuangchon 7-6 (7-5) 6-2.
Without the presence of four-circuit victor Pruchya who is taking a rest in this circuit, Phassawit should be the favourite in the final with better record against his opponent. However he said would not overlook the underdog.
“Chaleechan has been playing this week. He hits the ball aggressively. I have to play really well if I want to win,” he said.
