ONE OF THE leaders in the Thai health business, Nature Biotec, the importer and distributor of Linhzhimin, a diet supplement from South Korea, recently held a seminar as part of the Good Life Fair to promote the benefits of red lingzhi mushrooms. Titled “Keeps Sickness Away with Red Lingzhi Mushrooms”, it also introduced an easy-to-prepare dish created especially for health lovers.
“The activities we’ve organised for the Good Life Fair reflect our commitment to improving the health of Thai people. More and more Thais are suffering from chronic diseases that are mostly preventable so it’s important that they realise the importance of taking care of themselves.
We also would like to stress the great benefits of red lingzhi mushrooms in improving |health,” said Chupong Laohapornsvan, Nature Biotec’s chief executive.
The educational seminar was led by Dr Dumrong Laohapornsvan, the company’s managing director.
“The deterioration of human organs results in several chronic diseases.
“In Thailand and despite the advances in medical care, we are seeing increasingly high rates of diabetes, blood pressure and atherosclerosis. As a result, medical studies are now turning their attention to such alternatives as natural treatments based on ancient Chinese and Thai recipes that use herbs,” Dr Dumrong says.
“The red lingzhi mushroom has been used in Chinese medicine for more than 2.000 years. It is regarded as a neutral herb, which is not too hot or too cold. Studies have shown that it can cure chronic disease. November 14 has been declared world diabetes day, which reflects the global concern over this disease. In Thailand, one out of every 11 people has diabetes so it is quite worrying.
Other than genetic reasons, diabetes is caused by the frenetic lives we lead, our frequent consumption of junk food and lack of exercise. The symptoms of diabetes include frequent urination and thirst and come about when insulin production malfunctions and it cannot convert sugar but only release it through urine,” he continued.
Chef Pen-ake Supsin demonstrated how to cook Crispy Noodle Radna with Mushrooms, a simple and quick-to-prepare dish that uses king oyster mushroom, shiitake mushroom, truffle, and red lingzhi mushroom extract to help reduce weight and blood sugar levels as celebrities Nathaschai “Big” Charasmas and Sirin “May” Korkiat looked on.”
Dr Dumrong also made mention of His Majesty the King's remark made during the graduation ceremony of Mahidol University in October 1979 on the subject of health.]
“Taking care of health is key to good economy and society,” the Monarch said. “ Good health results in good mentality and good mentality results in creativity, responsibility, and commitment to the society.”
