New boutique in Siam Center aims to capture customer's uniqueness

MATTER MAKERS, the youngest sister brand of Disaya, is transforming its first outlet into a dressing room where trend-setting women can indulge in a fusion of West and East street fashion.
Chulalongkorn University’s fine and applied arts graduate Romrujee Chuaiprasit is creative director of the company which belongs to A-List Corporate distributing such luxury brands as Jimmy Choo and Leica Camera.
Opened on the first floor of Siam Center late last month, the new boutique occupies 200 square meters and veteran architect Duangrit Bunnag uses a palette of jet black and metallic silver to create a modern look while removable furniture gives a stunning display.
Under a concept of exCoolsive, the brand plays with words to indicate what customers can discover.
“Our designs capture a unique character and lifestyle of people in Gen Me. They have an individual identity and always love to find something new. So we break away from an old perception that a fashion collection is based on season.
“We’re releasing new designs every two months so that a customer can update what is in and out in the world’s street fashion scene and have fun mixing and matching apparels, based on their lifestyle. Our concept plays with words of exclusive and cool to give a hint of smart designs and uniqueness,” Romrujee says.
The collection is divided into three themes, focusing on good cuts, premium materials and playful details. The Okinawa series interweaves Japanese traditional garments and Western-style World War II military uniforms to reflect a variety of cultures.

There is a navy blue kimono jacket, fashioned from chiffon and embroidered with a crane flying in a Sakura garden, a Sakura camouflaged lace dress and a red-and-white jacquard dress in pineapple print that can double as a slit top.
You can also pair your skinny jeans with a two-in-one reversible bomber jacket or a military jacket embellished with a roaring tiger, influenced by a Japanese kimono.

“I got inspiration on a journey to Okinawa. This island adopted Western and Chinese cultures while it used to be a military base camp during World War II. The Okinawa collection is a mixture of Japanese tradition and Western styles. We turn kimono into a smart light jacket that can be worn every day, while a jacquard slit top comes in a pineapple motif that relates Okinawa’s pineapple plantations,” Romrujee says.

The Picasso edition has a new interpretation on the abstract works of world-class artist Pablo Picasso through a range of oversize denim jackets and a white knitted short dress that are embellished with a disproportional face.
“Pablo Picasso is famous for abstract and surreal arts. His portraits often show a disproportionate face of women. We borrow his style to create fancy embroidery on our jackets and dresses,” Romrujee adds.

Capturing the character of southwestern America, the Texas collection has a glamorous gold metallic skirt and jacquard dress in good cuts that are easy to match with stylish accessories for a party after workday.
“The Texas theme comes in vivid colours, good cuts and patterns. It’s easy to mix and match for a working day and a party night,” Romrujee says.
The boutique keeps some space for selected items from other local and overseas brands to help complete your look. 31 Thanwa has luxury genuine leather bags, Pony Stone introduces vintage-inspired jeans, Le Specs is famous for fashionable sunglasses, Chira Ferragni offers embroidered leather sneakers and Wakingbee and Nible come up with fashionable sportswear.
