Kiatisak ready to sign deal and prepare national team

Thai FA boss Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmuang suggested earlier this week that he would call in the former national striker for negotiations and the renewal of his contract that expired yesterday would take place should the two parties reach an agreement.
Asked to comment on Somyot’s remarks, the 43-year-old, who has held the national post since 2013, said, “I’m grateful to the association for being ready to discuss the contract. Should I receive an extension, I’m ready to resume work immediately. 
“While the national team currently has no match to play, I have already drawn a plan to prepare the squad for the remaining five World Cup qualifying matches.
“If they extend my contract, we’re ready to prepare the team. I’m ready to propose the plan for consideration right away,” said Kiatisak, who brightened his chances of getting an extension by leading the Kingdom to their record-breaking fifth title at the recent ASEAN Championship. 
The coach then turned his focus to the team’s World Cup qualifying campaign in Asia’s last 12-team round where they are at the bottom of Group B with a single point from five games. Thailand next face leaders Saudi Arabia in March.
“All the players are at their clubs but we’ll closely monitor their form. I have no worries about their physical condition. The domestic season would get underway soon. Therefore, they should be fully fit by then. 
“I’ll mainly stick with the 23 players that won the ASEAN title. There might not be any new boys because we’ll have only seven days to prepare for the game and there is no warm-up game. That’s why we have to use the same squad that has a good understanding of our system,” Kiatisak said.
