How many more Ormsins are out there?

Re: “Coin-eating turtle dies from complications”, Breaking News, March 21.

It was sad to hear that the 25-year-old female sea turtle named Ormsin, found with 915 coins in its stomach, died after suffering complications from a second operation on Saturday.
Ormsin had apparently recovered well from her first operation the previous Monday, to remove 5 kilos of swallowed coins, and could swim and eat normally.
The coins had increased levels of the heavy metal nickel in the turtle’s bloodstream to 200 times above normal, lowering its immunity and weakening internal organs. As a result of this and other complications from surgery, it failed to recover or respond to treatment.
In the eyes of people, Ormsin became a piggy bank – the coin-eating turtle they believed would help ensure their longevity and good luck in exchange for a coin in their pocket. Left free to live out her life in natural surroundings, she would have enjoyed genuine longevity – sea turtles can expect to live 80-100 years. Instead it came to untimely end after just 25 years and with much suffering due to false human beliefs.
Such beliefs need to change. People can toss their coins in donation boxes, not turtle ponds, and see that money go to improving the lives of the turtles in surroundings that nurture rather than poison them. A first step would be to erect signs warning visitors not to toss coins or other pollutants into turtle ponds.
