Jakraphan makes it look easy

Jakraphan Premsirigorn buried a three-foot birdie putt to win the three-way play-off for his first title on the All Thailand Tour at the Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club yesterday.

The 26-year-old, the half-way leader in the All Thailand Premier Championship 2017 – Road to Singha Masters, fired a birdie on the 18th hole for a 68 to level with overnight leader Kasidit Lepkurte and Chiangrai Singha Masters winner Panuphol Pittayarat at 14 under-par-274 in the regular round. While the former national player Kasidit and the in-form Panuphol could only save par, Jakraphan hit the ball close to the flag on the par-five, 18th hole and wrapped up the title.

“Before I hit the shot, I thought that it was either a make or break moment. It was a big relief to make that putt and win my first All Thailand Tour title. I’m so overwhelmed,” said Jakraphan or Johnnie as he is called by his friends.
The Thai-Hong Kong golfer, who won an ADT event in Malaysia in 2013 and the 2015 Thai PGA event at the Lotus Valley Golf Resort in Chachoengsao, said he was desperate to get into the play-off.

“I tried to play my game but the guys [Kasidit and Panuphol] hit a few more birdies. I was two behind after 15 holes but I told myself to give it a fight as it was not over yet. I didn’t putt well until in the last three holes, especially the birdie on the 18th that put me into the play-off,” said Jakraphan, who will play in the Queen’s Cup in Samui next week. He became richer by Bt450,000 after his splendid victory.
“This victory really boosted my confidence. Playing golf will be easier for me from now on. I just need to fix my iron shots. I need to hit closer to the flags,” said Jakraphan and added that he will put more focus on the ADT tournaments the rest of the season.
Kasidit, who was leading by one stroke going into the final hole, said he was fine with the tied second position that got him Bt224,250.
“I knew the two guys had a better chance as they are longer off the tee. But I’m quite happy with my form this week. I reached my goal of finishing among the top three. It was my best showing on the Tour so far,” said Kasidit.
