The Donald’s anti-democratic America cannot escape world’s criticism
Re: “Anti-Trump fury is also anti-democratic”, Have Your Say, June 13.
Letter-writer HHB should understand that in the interconnected world of today, no person or nation is above criticism.
Donald J Trump has promised to lead his country in a direction opposite to that taken by all former post-war US presidents.
For instance, Trump’s proposal to build a wall on the US-Mexican border runs contrary to the American ideal of building bridges of friendship and cooperation across the world.
Another example is Trump’s rejection of the Paris Accord – which is aimed at cutting the use gas and oil to limit global warming. That is also an act that goes against the combined interest of the world.
As a presidential candidate, Trump made crazy promises just to win an election. And that is a blatant abuse of the American system of democracy.
As a nation, the US under the leadership of Trump is behaving in an irrational and selfish manner. And that is dangerous to world peace and harmony.
Therefore, the world cannot sit idly by while Trump implements all his poorly thought-out ideas!
