Kiatisak promises Port turnaround

PORT FOOTBALL Club’s newly appointed head coach Kiatisak Senamuang vowed to lead his side to a top-nine finish in the Thai League as the former national coach took up his new job yesterday at the Pat Stadium.

Kiatisak, who resigned from the national team in April following the dismal results of Thailand in the World Cup Qualifiers, took the local

soccer scene by surprise when Port chairman Nualphan Lamsam posted on her personal Instagram a welcome message for him to her team on Thursday.

“We expect to finish the season in single-digit position or go as far as we can like playing in the AFC Champions League,” said the 43-year-old former national striker.

Kiatisak also promised Port fans that he would make his players more aggressive and focus on an exciting game.

“Port fans want to see an exciting game. So that’s what I will focus on. I promise that for the entire 90 minutes we will play an unrelenting game. Every visiting team must feel as if they were in hell at the Pat Stadium,” added Kiatisak, who also urged fans to remain passionate during every game to put pressure on the visiting side.

“At this moment our deal is more like moral commitment. We will go into details later. But I wish him to stay with us as long as he can,” said the Port chairman.

His first assignment for Port will be the Toyota Thai League game against Bangkok United at the Port’s Pat Stadium tomorrow.

“I have a tough team waiting for me on Sunday with only a day to prepare for that. My goal at this point is to get a point from that game,” added Kiatisa. He said he had no intention of buying new players.
