Another poisonous injection of medical conspiracy theory

While I didn’t think it was possible, Thomas Turk has reached new levels of absurdity by claiming the medical establishment and the tobacco industry are in collusion. As always, he offers zero evidence to back up his nonsense. Can he cite one medical journal which has, in the last several decades, run a single article encouraging people to smoke cigarettes? The exact opposite is true!
But this garbage comes from the same man who tells us that eating whole grains causes obesity, that the medical establishment wants us to have heart attacks and cancer. Mr Turk has even suggested that the medical establishment might be hiring hitmen to kill people who practise holistic medicine.
I realise that newspaper letters don’t necessarily represent the views of the newspapers that publish them, but if you continue to publish this garbage, soon no one is going to be able to take The Nation seriously.
