Perceived trap a mere mirage

Uncle Steve wrote about the predicament “once you have invested all your income into a home, kids’ schooling, greater family assistance and car/bike ownership, leaving may no longer be an option”.
Now tell me, uncle, who forced you to do all those things? Or was it you yourself who made the choices and decisions that later in life you seem to regret?
To now point at silly things and comparisons to put the blame of your perceived misfortune at Thailand’s changes is preposterous. Indeed, leaving is no option. The UK where you hail from is not the same as when you left either.
It’s between your ears, uncle. Happiness is between your ears. Nobody is responsible for this but you.
