Ekkarat Sukpetch uses the word “gourmand” in her otherwise entertaining and information-packed report on Singapore’s
culinary and leisure scene. A
gourmand is a person who enjoys eating – and often eats too much. This word often has a negative connotation.
A gourmet, on the other hand, is a connoisseur of good food. This word might be a better way to describe the discerning diners of Singapore’s Michelin-starred restaurants.
