The Thai No 2 who just lifted up the Games men’s singles silver medal in Kuala Lumpur nine days ago shrugged off a sluggish start to win his second round match in the World Grand Prix event.
“I didn’t play aggressive enough in the first game but I raised my level in the end. When I played at my level it was more comfortable in the second game,” said Khosit who admitted he was still exhausted from the regional sporting event.
“I don’t feel as strong as I was in the SEA Games. I just try to play one match at a time and hope to reach the semis,” added the third seeded Thai who faces Yu Igarashi of Japan today.
Two more Thais advanced in the men’s singles actions. Suppanyu Avihingsanon, seeded 10th, beat Kartikey Gulshan Kumar of India 21-15 21-17 and will next take on Lai Yu-Hua of Taiwan.
Sitthikom Thammasin, playing his first international event after two years being on the sideline due to injuries, upset sixth seed Lin Yu Hsien of Taiwan 21-14 21-15 to set up the third round clash with Panij Ahmad Maulana of Indonesia.
