There are some things you should never say in an airport

Re: “The perils of saying ‘Allahu akbar’ in public”, Opinion & Analysis, August 28.

I sympathise with Professor Beydoun, who was scowled at when he uttered “Allahu akbar” while making a phone call in a US airport. I don’t blame other travellers for being jumpy in such circumstances, though. I would be nervous too.
Professor, if you run into an old friend named Jack at a golf course or supermarket, it’s fine to yell, “Hi Jack!”. But never do it at an airport and, God forbid, not inside the cabin during the flight. It’s just a matter of appropriateness and awareness.
