Our resident “practising Buddhist” Michael Setter ridicules US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez for saying socialism is “morally right” when according to Setter she knows little about economics.
Are the Buddhists who write so much literature condemning those who crave materialism and instead encouraging them to do good deeds (such as spreading your wealth among the poor) economists?
Did Jesus Christ have a Phd in economics when he said it’s almost impossible for a rich man to go to heaven? These seemingly anti-capitalist views were based solely on moral philosophy, not economic analysis.
But if we’re going to say you should be an expert in economics before promoting socialism, shouldn’t you also be an expert in economics before promoting capitalism? Why the double standard?
