I have good news for any ardent Sinophiles reading this page. Xi Jingping has announced he is determined to end all poverty in China by 2020. (Next year!)
How can he do it so quick? Easy. He lowers the World Bank’s poverty-line benchmark – earnings less than $1.90 a day – down to $1.10 a day. That alone would immediately lift 1 billion Chinese out of poverty.
This is like an archer improving his scores by enlarging the bulls-eye to the size of a manhole cover.
