Pol Col Yossawat Kaewsuebtunyanij, superintendent of Mueang Khon Kaen Provincial Police Station, ordered security measures in the area to be stepped up immediately on Friday (August 21, 2026).
That morning, patrol officers, an investigation team and traffic police were deployed to conduct intensive patrols around Kanlayanawat School.
Officers monitored entrances and exits, watched for suspicious individuals and vehicles, inspected the area around the school, and kept personnel on standby to respond to an emergency.
They also coordinated closely with school administrators to exchange information and assess the situation continuously.
Meanwhile, the investigation team is examining the origin of the message, the people involved and the accuracy of the information circulated on social media to assess the threat level and take any relevant legal action.
Yossawat stressed that although the information was still being verified, police would remain vigilant when a matter involved a threat to an educational institution and the safety of schoolchildren.
Preventive measures had to be taken in advance so officers could respond to the situation promptly.
“Every threat to an educational institution must be subject to a serious investigation. Police are ready to take preventive action before an incident occurs and to intervene immediately if an emergency arises.”
Kanlayanawat School, meanwhile, issued a notice introducing special teaching arrangements.
Instead of travelling to the school for classes as usual, pupils were to study online at their residences for 1 day.
