Takaichi sends condolences to China and Nepal after border floods

Industry sources believe five Japanese people taking part in a tour, three of them children, are members of one family from the city of Osaka.
They are among more than 500 foreign tourists whose whereabouts remain unknown on the Nepalese side following Wednesday’s flash floods near the China-Nepal border.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah were the recipients of letters dated Thursday (August 27) from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
The correspondence expressed her condolences and sympathy for those killed or missing, together with her hope that as many people as possible would be rescued and that the injured would recover.
Confirmed fatalities exceed 470.
The missing-person figures from Nepalese and Chinese authorities could, when combined, come close to 2,000.
