Hong Kong will cull 4,700 pigs after African swine fever was detected in an animal at a slaughterhouse close to the border with China, the second such case in a month in the crowded financial hub.

Eight animal rights groups have launched a campaign on the Change.org website to demand justice in regard to the more than 200 pet dogs and cats recently culled in two villages by livestock officials in Chiang Rai province.
