Officials started installing six CCTVs along the coast of Koh Libong in Trang province on Thursday to monitor the life of Mariam, the first baby dugong in Thailand, to allow residents and visitors to serve as her “nannies” around the clock as she grows up in the natural surroundings of the island.

The carcass of a large dugon estimated to have been 15-20 years old at the time of its death, was swept onto Koh Khor Khao Beach in Phang Nga’s Takua Pa district on Sunday.
