An outbreak of Leptospirosis in the southern province of Trang has claimed four lives this year, prompting health authorities to take action and urge residents not to wade in stagnant floodwaters.
The Public Health Ministry has warned people of the dangers of leptospirosis this rainy season, after 1,362 reports of sufferers and 29 fatalities from the disease in the year to July 29.

THE FLOOD situation in the South, which has claimed 96 lives, has improved and only six districts in three provinces are still inundated, but the Ministry of Public Health has warned residents in Prachuap Khiri Khan and 11 other southern provinces of the emerging threat of Leptospirosis.
FARMERS who wade through water in rice fields without protective gear have been warned they could contract the disease leptospirosis this rainy season.
