TTCL Public Co Ltd (TTCL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of Kayin State in Myanmar to develop a coal-fired thermal power plant in that state.
TTCL on October 27 informed Thailand’s stock exchange (SET) of the MOU for a US$2.8-billion (Bt98 billion) power plant project. TTCL has a 95-per cent ownership while the Kayin State Government holds a 5-per-cent stake.
The plant, with a power capacity of 1,280MW, uses Japanese Ultra Super Critical technology and is expected to burn 4 million tonnes of imported coal per year.
The MOU for a joint venture and land-lease agreement was signed April 3, 2017.
