The second seed Phassawit employed his left-handed top spin ball to stem the run of Chaleechan, the conqueror of top seed Jirat Navasirisombon in round two. Five days ago the 23-year-old went down to Pruchya Isarow, winner of the four previous circuits, 6-4 6-2 in the fourth circuit title match.
With the invincible Pruchya opting to skip the fifth edition to rest his body, the draw was open for every one but it was Phassawit who took the most out of this opportunity. He won the winner’s prize money of US$900, leaving Chaleechan to be content with US$600 as runner-up.
The maindraw actions of the sixth circuit starts on Monday afternoon with the return of Pruchya who will be vying for his fifth trophy on the Asian Tennis Tour.
