Matadors of reason versus bulls of bluster

Re: “Strange how the media-conspiracy theorists stay silent about Fox” and “A lexicon of new terminology for the Age of Trump”, Letters, yesterday.

Now I do not always agree with Eric Bahrt’s comments, but in all fairness he sometimes makes some very telling comments that are fair, logical and grounded in common sense and decency. This is the case with his thoughts yesterday.
As for Ye Olde Pedant, I’ve yet to read a bad, or even merely average, offering from this correspondent in these pages. His words usually are, if nothing else, amusing and thought-provoking. The message about the ongoing “discussion” in The Nation, written yesterday, made me laugh and think in equal measure – a rare quality.
As for the Wilcox-Arnone axis of confusion and mendacity, it’s noticeable that they use the media to bash the media, an object lesson in hypocrisy writ large, the swivel-eyed tendency redolent of the English Tory shires, sporting cavalry twill trousers and Joseph Cheaney handmade brogues.
Writing much but saying nothing is not advised, gentlemen, nor is noisily brandishing the rusty sword of fallacious indignation, disguised by the perplexity of puff and froth while wandering around knocking things over.
Behaviour like that reminds me of an old adage coined by the late, great Winston Churchill, and I paraphrase: (they) are like bulls who carry their own China shops around with them.
