Give us a break from ‘child angel dolls’

What a relief! After months spent publishing page after page of trivia about economics, politics and various so-called “global threats”, the Kingdom’s two English-language newspapers have at last seized on a topic more worthy of our attention.

I refer, of course, to the momentous saga of the “child angel” dolls, which is now rightly preoccupying no less a body than the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, as well as commanding nationwide attention and reaching its culmination all over the front pages on January 27.
Seriously – and with respect – is there any chance of a return to reality soon? Children’s toys are children’s toys, nothing more, nothing less. By all means inform us about the generation of the future, but their education and the environment they’ll inherit are surely more vital than playthings and superstition.
