We have been informed that Israel has the right of self-defence; I have no issue with that. The UN Charter (Article 51) specifically provides for that. However, I would ask how anyone can justify the murder of unarmed civilians protesting against what they perceive to be an injustice that is widely considered to be a fact, and call it “self-defence”. This act, by the way, includes the murder of at least one member of the broadcast media, wearing a flak vest clearly marked “Press”, recording the unfolding events for visual evidence of what was really going on.
Apparently, the Israelis have “even set aside” Gaza (arguably the world’s largest open prison) for the Arab “refugees” (the operative word); a refugee in your own land, rather than an internally (deliberately) displaced population? Oh, the irony.
We are further, bizarrely, informed that “The Arab world calls these people ‘Palestinians’ – though they don’t look like Philistines to me, as they are Arab, not Greek.” Run that by me again, s’il vous plait. The last time I looked, the world – not just the Arabs – consider these people to be Palestinians. Not, as inferred, rats.
